The Netherlands rugby association NRB needs 1.2 million euro on the short term to avoid bankruptcy. The association is appealing to its members. Senior members of 19 years and older need to deposit 80 euros into the association’s account by February 1st, junior members are expected to pay 40 euros.
This is evident from a rescue plan drawn up by the management of NRB, the Volkskrant reports. The main reasons for the association’s financial trouble are sloppy bookkeeping and ambitious plans. The document, entitled Rescue Plan Netherlands Rugby Association 2015, states that the appeal to its more than 10 thousand members should deliver 675 thousand euro.
The association hopes to be financially stable by 2017 with that amount, supplemented by an obligation loan of 350 thousand euro and positive results in the coming years.
